Physiotherapy for Women’s Health

Welcome to our blog on women's health physiotherapy! At Function PCP, we are passionate about helping women of all ages and appearances achieve their best physical health through pilates, functional gym, and physiotherapy.

One area that we specialize in is the treatment of pelvic pain, period pain, post-partum issues, pre-partum issues, and issues that may arise during pregnancy. These conditions can significantly impact a woman's quality of life, but with the right physiotherapy treatment, relief is possible.

Pelvic Pain and its symptoms

First, let's talk about pelvic pain. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. Our physiotherapists will work with you to identify the underlying cause of your pain and develop a personalized treatment plan that may include exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, manual therapy to release any tension or restrictions in the pelvic region, and education on how to manage your symptoms.

Period Pain

Period pain, also known as dysmenorrhea, is another common issue that women may experience. This pain can range from mild to severe and can be caused by a variety of factors, including hormonal imbalances and endometriosis. Our physiotherapists will work with you to identify the cause of your pain and develop a treatment plan that may include exercises to reduce muscle tension, manual therapy to release any restrictions in the pelvic region, and education on how to manage your symptoms.

Post & Pre-partum

Post-partum and pre-partum issues are also common concerns for women. These can include issues such as diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles), pelvic pain, and incontinence. Our physiotherapists are trained to work with women during this time and will develop a treatment plan that takes into account your unique needs and concerns. This may include exercises to strengthen the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, manual therapy to release any tension or restrictions in the pelvic region, and education on how to manage your symptoms.

Pregnancy

Finally, pregnancy can also bring a variety of physical challenges. Our physiotherapists are trained to work with women during this time and will develop a treatment plan that takes into account your unique needs and concerns. This may include exercises to improve posture, relieve back pain, and prepare for labour and delivery, as well as education on how to manage your symptoms.

At Function PCP, we believe that every woman deserves to be treated with empathy and understanding. We are passionate about helping women achieve their best physical health through pilates, functional gym, and physiotherapy. If you're experiencing any of the issues we've discussed today, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're here to help!
